Fjords, Grace

What is a fjord? A fjord is a Norwegian word. Geologists, (scientists) believe that rivers cut these fjords.

Why are they so narrow? They have shallow sills at their mouths to make it deeper and narrower. The valleys are drowned by the sea.  A fjord is a long narrow winding inlet or arm of the sea.

Do you know how the water flows?  Rivers cut the fjords so the water can get in. The coasts of Alaska, Maine, British Columbia, Greenway, and New Zealand contain inlets like Norways fiords. I hope you liked my facinating story of fiords.
