Mountains By: Carly

What is a mountain? In this, you'll learn how mountains are formed, and different interesting facts about mountains.

What is a mountain? This landform is higher than its surroundings and is very tall. It is not a hill, the difference is that a mountain is a ton bigger than a hill and mountains have cliffs and sharp pointy edges hills role along.

What type of  of terrain is on a mountain? Well not all mountains are the same. Lower parts of mountains have lush forests of oak, maple or poplar. More towards the top is colder with different types of trees such as pine or spruce which becomes less and less trees when you go higher. The upper part has a  lot less trees and are spotted over areas with alpine plants.

How are mountains formed? The earth's plates deep underneath the earth's crust  rub  together and dirt and earth rises. This happens over millions of years and that is why there is so much layers.

What you just read is a description of a mountain.
